Idyl Books

As Wangaratta’s only secondhand bookshop, here at Idyl Book Cafe we stock approximately 8,000 quality pre-loved books for sale. We have a lovely lounge area where you can sit quietly for a read and try our books before you buy.

We are extremely well organised and have arranged our shelves so you can easily locate books that are just right for you.

If you feel slightly overwhelmed with choice, you can simply go to our “Must read before you die” shelf where you are assured of picking up a great read. Alternatively, have a chat to our friendly staff who always have a few recommendations up their sleeves.

Looking for a book?

We don’t sell books online, but if you want us to keep an eye out for something for you, and can get into the shop to pick it up, drop us an email (see our Contact page) and we’ll watch out for it for you.

Book rewards

If you consider yourself a bit of a bookworm, make sure you pick up one of our reward cards. For every $10 you spend on books, you receive a $1 stamp towards your next book purchase. You can also accrue them for a greater discount.

Yes! We buy books

When cleaning out your bookshelves at home, be sure to bring in any unwanted books to Idyl and do a deal with Toni.

She admits to being fussy, but for the ones she takes, she will pay you either 50% of the retail price as a book voucher for future purchases at Idyl, or if you want cash, then 30%.
